3 Bad Dental Health Habits You Can Easily Change

Hard Bristled Brush

It is often the case that our patients are using a hard toothbrush, as they believe this will clean their teeth more thoroughly. This isn’t true! Using a firmer toothbrush will only push back your gums, which will more than likely making your teeth more sensitive. Make sure you are aware of what kind of brush you’re using and get clued up on how that can affect your dental health.

Using your Teeth to Open Things

Another habit people often fall into is using their teeth as tools. It is common for people to use teeth to open things, take off bottle caps, take a tag off of clothing etc. Doing this a couple of times is alright but don’t do it regularly! Using your teeth for these reasons can potentially cause trauma and cause the tooth to weaken. If you find yourself doing this all the time, be aware of the effect it could be having on your mouth.

Teeth Grinding

Grinding teeth is very common, it can happen while asleep or during the day and can be triggered by a number of different things for example; anxiety and stress. Often people that grind their teeth are unaware they are doing it! If you have tried to remedy your teeth grinding and have been unable to, it is important to make an appointment with your dentist.
